I guess I didn't set off to a fantastic start within the blogging business, my last post being around 8 months ago (eek!) but I plan to follow it through this time!
I wonder if anybody else suffers from a severe spider phobia? All I can say in response if yes, is that I completely empathise, I get how you feel! and I today am still suffering the effects of my latest invasion.
Its a ridiculous story but let me get it of my chest! It was around 10pm and the night before I had indulged in a book session that took me well into 4am (knowing full well I had a busy day coming up) so I planned on catching up with an early night... no such luck; as you probably guessed.
As I reached to set the alarm clock I caught a glimpse of a spider in the corner of my eye... Fight or Flight kicked in and I'm no fool so ran of course! Straight up to my housemate who was in bed reading. She reluctantly came down and searched the area whilst I panicked in the kitchen... now by panic I mean complete and utter hysteria, I think the neighbours and the rest of my housemates thought somebody had died, but when I'm in this mood there is no way I can leave it until I know for definite the invader has died.
The invader had won... I could no longer enter the room knowing it was there and so with nobody to help me but the house mate who initially checked for it (then left me quickly knowing I was in a state of panic) I took to the sofa in the living room with may I add nothing but a pillow and it's winter!
I woke the next morning with a headache from crying, a sore back and a big dose of "shes a crap friend" I have always been there for her you see, when her and the boyfriend split, when she was threatened and spent the evening in tears and then endured a week of her bad moods due to the situation. She can't cook so when the prospective new man came for a visit I cooked a meal to make him welcome and so they could enjoy themselves. In general I put a lot of effort into being a good friend to her although now this time now feels like a waste as she obviously doesn't hold me in high regard.
By the way, it's not that I blame her for not catching the spider, I'm upset that she didn't try to comfort me or offer me her bed to share (as I have done in the past) or that when she woke up during the night to use the toilet, definitely hearing me cry on her journey she didn't even come to the living room to offer to get me my quilt and pillows out of the invasion site (previously known as my bedroom).
The next day another housemate who obviously is a lot nicer packed my entire room up (how absolutely lovely!) I took it all upstairs to the spare room and I now have a spare room, a shoddy layout but pros in the form of stairs! before i lived in the basement and my bedroom door was right next to the backdoor to the garden so apparently this was the ideal place to attract spiders. I now reside 2 floors above, a good mission for the invaders I hope!
In the mean time I'm considering hypnotherapy or some kind of help as this is beyond a joke and it's not fair of me to push my fears onto the people around me and effect their lives too...
Do you know anything about hypnotherapy? Is there any one out there?

And today I am hungry...
After gorging myself on several spoons of self pity, this feeding by the way lasting perhaps 10 or more years I have finally started to do something about it.
Yet first I would like to enquire..
I am in no way obese, at a work party last year stuffed into a broom sized cupboard we gathered to say good bye to a colleague, about 20 of us sat or stood around the center of a large table full to the brim with carbohydrates, the bad fats, processed meats, sugar coated cakes, biscuits and one single bowl of lettuce. I would estimate that around 80% of the people in that room could be medically considered as overweight, these are big people Size 22 people and although like I say I am not obese (yet not skinny at all) one of the louder women shove a pork pie in my face to which I reply that I am sorry but I just don't like them, this women then thrusts a single lettuce leaf at me and then loudly tells me and all around that people "like" me only eat lettuce don't we.
I personally don't like processed meat, I don't like Scotch Egg's, Pork Pies or even many sweets but I am a good (larger) size 12, I don't eat many take aways; nor do I cook an excess of fatty foods. I do however enjoy good food cooked well, I love vegetables so pile them up, goats cheese, caramelized red onion compote and all though this pains me to say... I am now on a diet.
Saying I love food is an understatement, it's the first thing on my mind when I wake up and the last thing on my mind when I try to sleep.
Yet this situation lead me to wonder about several different things,
1; whilst in a room containing several obese women, I was made to feel wrong for being a healthy weight, is this not a completely wrong attitude for this woman and the women who sniggered to have?
2; If this women did believe I in contrast to her live on a diet of lettuce do we need more of a "food education"
3; Although sitting in a room with heavily obese women I still felt huge...
Which brings me back to the diet in which I have eaten fish and lettuce for 14 days so far and I think I may perhaps slit my own wrists at the sight of cod again. I have lost 9 pounds in those 14 days but I am telling you it was so far from happiness in fact I have been a complete bitch.
Any interesting theory's on diets, let us know!!
